Social Skills:

Developed at UCLA by Drs. Laugeson and Frenkel, PEERS is an evidence-based group social skills program that helps children and teens learn how to make and keep friends. Some of the benefits derived from this program include the development of enhanced conversational skills, and skills to:

  • Choose appropriate friends
  • Handle arguments and disagreements
  • Use humor appropriately
  • Handle teasing and rejection from peers

During each session, teens are taught important social skills, and these are practiced during socialization activities. Parents actively participate, as they are provided feedback on how to assist their child or teen in how to establish these key relationships. This program is for:

  • Verbal or emotionally challenged children/teens
  • Children or teens with social skills challenges
  • Social anxiety
  • Those with conditions such as high functioning Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD, ADD

We are one of very few Florida facilities with therapists trained in this groundbreaking approach, which has been featured in both scientific journals and popular magazines (see “Joey Makes a Friend” in People Magazine)

We offer 2-4 sessions a year, and spaces are limited, we encourage parents to call for an evaluation and to reserve a space.
